Memoriam
in Honor of Teresa V. Sheehan
August
31, 1939 – December 2, 2017
Dear
Teresa,
I
will miss your “Like Me” post and comments posted on FaceBook. Teresa, you were
such a dynamic art teacher, with over 40 years of service to education. I will
always remember your keys jingling through the hallways of Francis Lewis High
School, and so much more. You were a dean at the school and an alumnus of
Francis Lewis High School who returned to give your all. Your eccentricities
were also your charm.
Teresa,
I thank you for the substantial monetary contributions you made to the Vincent
J. Tomeo Scholarship Fund established at Francis Lewis High School. You helped
students pursue a higher education Kudos!
Your
intense, compassionate political activism and caring voice will live on in all
the people you helped, to enlighten, uplift, and touch with human kindness.
As
your colleague and poet friend, I lament your demise. Now, I pray and wish you “Rest
in Soft Peace!” My Hibernian friend, you are now the “Song of Wandering
Aengus.”
I
will hear your voice when I read the poetry of William Butler Yeats.
Vincent
